So what makes my reviews better than all the others on the net?
Nothing.
This has all been done before, by better writers than me. I'm partial to the reviews on Television Without Pity; Jacob tends to be heavy on the philosophy, but his affection for the show is apparent. You can also find hordes of well-written reviews on Outpost Gallifrey - just beware the odd reviewer who seems more impressed with his/her own ability to snark with big words than with writing a useful review of an episode. (The forums on both sites are also a lot of fun.)
No, I'm not writing these to fill some unfilled Internet niche. I'm writing these because I've loved Doctor Who ever since I was a kid and first saw "Inferno" (which, to my delight, is FINALLY coming out on DVD), and the new show has hooked me again. I'm writing these because on all the message boards I find, everybody else has already discussed all the things I'm thinking about. My ideas are old news, but I still want to get them down.
In short: I'm writing these for me, because writing about Doctor Who is fun.
A little about me: I was born in 1964, married in 2002, and had my daughter in 2004. I'm currently working in software, which certainly keeps me up to date on some of the geekier things in the world; but what really informs my opinion of these episodes, I think, is being a mom. So don't expect a lot of Jackie-bashing (although I won't be shy when I think she deserves it); she's got more of my sympathy than anybody else in this entourage.
Are you bored yet? If not, read a little. If you're still not bored, read a lot.
'Cause I'm writing them whether you read them or not.
