Emily Grace was born on May 25th, 2004, at 3:46 am.  That morning has proved to be just one short leg in an amazing journey that began nine months before.

 

Here, in a series of unordered anecdotes, will emerge the story of how Emily came to be - and how she is growing.  I don’t expect the story to take on any large, existential meaning - except that somehow, out of a desire to see what happened when we put our genes in a blender, my husband and I have generated a complete, entirely separate human being.

 

I will be amazed - and in love - for the rest of my life.
